Graphical spaces

Jeongmoon Choi – a Berlin-based korean artist – creates amazing three-dimensional installations that are made of geometrically arranged, colored threads, illuminated by UV light. A cool play between art and architecture!

Poetic worlds

Ernesto Neto creates with elastic fabrics, such as nylon, spandex or tulle, expansive and wondrous biomorphic structures. The soft organic forms are spanned by a ballast of the ceiling down and make little bizarre, but quite cozy rooms and caves. As ballast Neto likes to use amongst others also spices (which give off their fragrance throughout the exhibition). His work is definitely for art, which wants to be experienced.

Netos next exhibition – “notes, stones and dots’ will be soon on display in Berlin,
Gallery Max Hetzler, February 23 – April 13, 2013.

Pleats please!

Pleats Please by Issey Miyake ( since 1989) starts into a new Spring-Summer season! The new collection shows different clothes in vibrant colours and with the typical pleats.
The interesting thing about the collections from Issey Miyake is, that the fabrics are cut and sewn first, and not till then the significant folds are attached. Usually it’s the other way around pleating: first is pleated and then cut.
Issey Miyake had designed the folds dresses originally for a ballet. But he quickly realized,
that people can wear this clothes well everywhere and in everyday life. Smart…
And I think, he´s right!

Colour of 2013

Looking for a colour? How about green?
The Pantone-trend experts nominated this week “Emerald” as the colour of the year 2013. It´s quasi like the Oscar for colours! So I guess, we´ll see a lot of green things next year, clothes, furniture, paper hangings, cars, etc…
I like the kind of green, but my favourite from the “Oscar-winning” colours remains for the time being 2009.

Thread Installation

Today I discovered an artist, who makes amazing installations with thread. Gabriel Dawe!
He creates fantastic colorful and abstract spatial structures, only by thousands upon thousands of thread. I like it very much! It´s a combination of fashion, architecture and poetry.

There are more of his great installations at the site http://www.gabrieldawe.com
Have a look.
